Resurrection Monday

This is another New Robot. The Spinner (see video)

It carries a 4,000 lb. payload. Mady by The National Robotics Engineering Center at Carnegie Mellon University. The build em big and heavy. But tough, very formidable.

Especially this one

Here is my 13 point plan to destroy the United States Education system for Secondary Ed.

1. Communal Kitchens. There would be a way for every student to eat something healthy for free all day no questions asked.

2. Offer the option of doing the entire course online for most classes

3. Pay every teacher at least $50,000.00 for working a full year.

4. Ongoing Education would count as work for teachers. So in the summer they could use the option to be paid to go to summer school. Or lose that equivalent amount of money for time not worked. After 12 years of full time teaching a teacher could take up to two years off to go to school or just a break. If they attended school they would get 3/4 of their normal full-time annual income.

5. Chocolate Milk in all the drinking fountains.

6. A minimum level of Parent Teacher interaction with the teacher weekly through the internet. If possible farm some of the work of educating the children to the parents.

7. Some minimum level of economic integration or bussing. The point being to keep any school from having more than 40% of its students living in poverty.

8. All students would qualify for free broadband.

9. An attempt would be made to bridge any technology gaps faced by students with no computer at home..

10. A number of teaching styles would be offered and tailoring a focused or varied schedule would be possible.

11. Extra curricular sport or art would be compulsory.

12. Community Service would be compulsory.

13. Dress Code. Deal.

Great ideas. I was just watching an episode of Oprah that featured Bill and Melinda Gates and how they supported this school that uses alternative teaching methods including teaching through songs. For example they put historical facts into a song or a rap and teach the kids the song. It was really cool on the show, but I don't feel that this website realy does it justice. http://www.kippschools.org/
