Patricia Monfort Branom passed away on March 30, 2009 surrounded by her loving family of three generations. She was born on December 14, 1923 to Charles and Wilhelmina Baude in Maumee, Ohio. She attended college then worked as a United Airlines stewardess during the 1940's. Both were considered pioneering behavior for women at the time. She later married, then was widowed young with children. She moved her family from Wheaton, Illinois to Phoenix in 1960. As a single mother, she raised her family while establishing a 28 year career in mortgage banking. She retired in 1988 from her position as Vice President of Mellon Mortgage in Phoenix. A life-long believer in community service, she continuously contributed her energy and time to non-profit organizations and charitable groups such as Gompers Habilitation and the Heard Museum, both in Phoenix. During the sixties, she helped establish the Phoenix chapter of Clipped Wings, a national organization of former, retired and current United and Capital Airlines flight attendants dedicated to serving a wide range of local and national charities, through which she did many good works in the Phoenix area. As a believer in active citizenship, she also volunteered extensively for Bruce Babbit during his campaigns. After moving to Tucson in 1997 Pat continuted her volunteer service with TMC Hospice and until recently the Casa de la Luz Hospice. Pat is survived by her husband of thirty-five years, Joseph "Rex" Branom; her children, Scott Monfort, Charlie Monfort, Brooke Monfort, Doug MacBeth, Joe Branom and Carole Branom-Zwick, along with thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. A strong, generous and loving human being, Pat touched countless lives with her wit and energy and will be sorely missed.
